HERBERT L. STARKE SCHOLARSHIP
The Herbert L. Starke Scholarship was established in 2005 and is given in honor of Brother Herb Starke for his unwavering dedication to the Zeta Pi Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. Brother Starke was initiated at West Virginia State College in 1952. He served as the State Director for both Florida and Washington State in addition to many numerous chapter and regional position. Brother Starke spent over 40 years as a public school educator in Ft Myers and Ft. Lauderdale, FL; Kent and Tacoma school systems. The Herbert L. Starke Scholarship will honor an outstanding graduating high school senior from the Seattle-King County metropolitan with a scholarship valued at $1,000. The student will have a minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale and will have demonstrated outstanding leadership skills, superb academic achievement and a strong commitment to community service.
